In a speech to the Liberal Democrat annual party conference in Bournemouth this week (14th September), Sarah Carr, the Liberal Democrat hopeful to succeed Paul Keetch as Member of Parliament for Hereford and South Herefordshire, made clear her commitment to campaign for a fairer pension system providing security and dignity in retirement for every citizen.

Herefordshire Police must be freed from Government Bureaucracy

The Liberal Democrats are announcing bold new plans at their annual party conference in Bournemouth this week (13th-17th September) to free local police forces from the grip of central government bureaucracy and targets. Under Liberal Democrat plans police officers would be freed to spend more time policing communities rather than chasing government targets.

REDHILL RESIDENTS SHOUT OUT IN STREET PROTEST AGAINST POST OFFICE CLOSURE

Local Liberal Democrat campaigner Sarah Carr, earlier today (9th September) joined Redhill residents to protest against government plans to close the popular post office at Redhill Stores. The event was organised by Wendy Jones and the Redhill Residents' Association. Local people turned out in force in the pouring rain holding many homemade banners and placards and chanting 'Save Redhill Post Office' to television cameras. Sarah has been campaigning against the proposed closure of Redhill Post Office from the day it was announced.

The campaign to save Redhill Post Office moved forward this week with a heated and well attended public meeting at the Golden Jubilee Hall in Redhill, Hereford. The meeting was organised by Redhill Residents' Association Chairman Wendy Jones. Liberal Democrat parliamentary campaigner Sarah Carr who is working hard to save Redhill post office invited representatives from Post Office Ltd and consumer champion Postwatch who attended the meeting taking questions and making many notes. Local Hereford MP Paul Keetch who is also publicly calling for Redhill Post Office to be kept open also attended the meeting.

Venus Challenge in Aid of St Michael's Hospice - sponsor their good work here!

Local campaigner Sarah Carr, will be one of the 800 women taking part in the 10 kilometre (6.21 mile) midnight walk 'Venus Challenge' around Hereford in aid of St Michael's Hospice on Saturday 20th September.

Herefordshire Association for the blind soon to become 'Herefordshire Vision Links.'

Up to 5,000 people in Herefordshire suffer from incorrectable sight loss according to local charity Herefordshire Association for the Blind. The charity which is soon to be renamed 'Herefordshire Vision Links' promotes the welfare of blind and partially sighted people across the county. Sarah Carr, the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Hereford and South Herefordshire, has met with Julian Reeves Chief Executive of the charity to better understand what it is like to have sight problems in Herefordshire and what services are available to local people.
