Sarah Carr, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Hereford and South Herefordshire is supporting the launch of VQ Day on 23rd July - the first nationwide day to raise public awareness of the value of vocational qualifications and to celebrate the success of students and colleges - and is encouraging local colleges and learning providers to get involved.
"The launch of VQ Day is a huge step forward for the world of vocational learning. Thousands of people in Herefordshire take vocational qualifications every year which lead them to better jobs, enhanced skills and further study. For too long this success has gone without the national recognition and celebration it deserves and has remained in the shadow of traditional academic qualifications.
"I strongly support vocational courses which can set people up for life, open new doors of opportunity and provide the skills we need to support many businesses in Herefordshire. I am particularly keen to support the national celebration of vocational qualifications because we have first class vocational learning providers here in Herefordshire such as Herefordshire Group Training and Herefordshire College of Technology with its new £30m campus well on its way to completion. It is time to celebrate vocational qualifications and success!"
