Congratulations to everyone who succeeds at our Colleges! Sarah Carr with the Principal of Herefordshire College of Technology, Ian Peake.

Sarah Carr, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Hereford and South Herefordshire was the guest speaker at the Herefordshire College of Technology (HCT) Faculty of Community Studies Award Ceremony held at the Holme Lacy Campus on Wednesday 9th July.

As rain lashed the marquee in very unseasonable July weather, Sarah presented the certificates to students who have completed a wide range of vocational studies ranging from diplomas in health and social care, travel and tourism, business and NVQs Teaching Assistants - all providing skills and knowledge for some of the largest employment sectors in Herefordshire.

Introduced by The Principal of Herefordshire College of Technology, Ian Peake, Sarah congratulated the students and paid tribute to the friends, family and teachers for their support and encouragement. Sarah spoke of the importance of the skills and qualifications gained for the success of the Herefordshire economy and spoke of her commitment to encouraging even more investment in the Herefordshire education system referring to the fantastic £30m investment in the HCT Hereford Campus now nearing completion.

In her inspiring speech Sarah said,

"Empowering people to believe in themselves, to have ambition for their future and fulfil their potential is one of the reasons I am standing for Parliament.

"As you move forward in your careers from tonight look into the future - think big, always believe in yourself and what you have going for you - never let anyone try to put you down. And if you work hard - and that's the key - and put in that bit of extra effort, you never know what you might succeed.

"Make the most of every opportunity in life - you never know where it may lead you!"
