Sarah Carr and Wendy Jones, Chair of Redhill Residents' Association are calling for residents to make their views known to PostWatch.

The campaign to save Redhill Post Office moved forward this week with a heated and well attended public meeting at the Golden Jubilee Hall in Redhill, Hereford. The meeting was organised by Redhill Residents' Association Chairman Wendy Jones. Liberal Democrat parliamentary campaigner Sarah Carr who is working hard to save Redhill post office invited representatives from Post Office Ltd and consumer champion Postwatch who attended the meeting taking questions and making many notes. Local Hereford MP Paul Keetch who is also publicly calling for Redhill Post Office to be kept open also attended the meeting.

After the meeting Sarah Carr said,

"Both Post Office Ltd and Postwatch stressed how important individual letters sent to them are in the campaign to reverse the government's decision to close popular Redhill Post Office. These letters need to state factually why Redhill post office should not be closed such as difficulties in crossing the busy A49 and the length of queues at other post offices.

"At the meeting it was clear that Post Office Ltd had not taken into account a number of local factors when identifying Redhill for closure such as the new sixth form at The Hereford Academy. Only by telling Post Office Ltd and Postwatch about these factors which they may have missed can we have any chance of saving Redhill Post Office from closure."

The address for Post Office Ltd is FREEPOST CONSULTATION TEAM and for Postwatch it is FREEPOST POSTWATCH. All letters should be copied to Postwatch and must be received by 7th October.

Sarah Carr also attend Herefordshire Council's post office seminar on Wednesday 3rd September where her question to Kenneth Parsons of the Rural Shops Alliance confirmed that other regions have been successful in saving a post office and that this is a campaign to fight for.

Sarah Carr started to campaign against the closure of Redhill Post Office on the day the closure was announced. Sarah and her team have delivered thousands of leaflets to Redhill residents and are collecting a petition. The next steps are a public protest at 10am on Tuesday 9th September outside Redhill Post Office and a letter writing day on Tuesday 16th September from 10am until 2pm at the Golden Jubilee Hall off Stanberrow Road, Hereford.
