Fri 12th Feb 2010: KEETCH THANKED FOR PLEDGING TO "DO HIS BIT" FOR BRITISH ARMED FORCES. Paul Keetch, MP for Hereford, has been thanked for pledging to do his bit for the British Armed Forces family. MP CELEBRATES CENTENARY OF SUPPORT FOR THE UNEMPLOYED. Hereford's Liberal Democrat MP, Paul Keetch has supported celebrations as February 2010 marks one hundred years of support for jobseekers after the opening in 1910 of Britain's first 62 Labour Exchanges, the forefather of today's Jobcentre Plus. Tue 9th Feb 2010: KEETCH SUPPORTS VITAL HOME HEAT HELPLINE SERVICE. Paul Keetch MP has signed an Early Day Motion (EDM) supporting the Home Heat Helpline, a free, not-for-profit service that helps households save energy and reduce their energy bills. Mon 8th Feb 2010: KEETCH STANDS UP FOR TRAIN PASSENGERS. Paul Keetch MP stood up for train passengers last week by recognising their number one concern: high fares. Fri 5th Feb 2010: KEETCH SUPPORTS SCAMNESTY CAMPAIGN. Paul Keetch MP is supporting a nationwide 'Scamnesty' campaign by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) by signing Early Day Motion 738 - Scams Awareness Month Campaign, which aims to help end the scourge of mass marketing scam mailings in the UK. Fri 29th Jan 2010: KEETCH GOES "RED FOR HEART" THIS FEBRUARY. February is National Heart Month and Paul Keetch, Hereford's MP, together with The British Heart Foundation (BHF) are asking the people of Hereford to join National Wear Red Day on Friday 26th February 2010 and to follow the BEAT health code. Wed 27th Jan 2010: HEREFORDSHIRE MPs UNITE ON EDUCATION. The MPs for Herefordshire put their political difference aside this week when they met Minister for Schools, Vernon Coaker, to discuss Herefordshire schools' funding. The meeting, arranged by Paul Keetch, MP for Hereford, was also attended by Bill Wiggin, MP for Leominster, Dr Sharon Menghini, Director of Children's Services at Herefordshire County Council; Head Teachers Chris Barker and Peter Box, Governors Denise Kennedy and John Spackman representing High and Primary schools across the county. Fri 15th Jan 2010: KEETCH ON REPORT ON RURAL PAYMENT AGENCY MALADMINISTRATION. Paul Keetch, MP for Hereford reports that the Parliamentary Ombudsman, Ann Abraham, called on the Rural Payments Agency (RPA) to apologise and pay compensation for the maladministration of the Single Payments Scheme in a report laid before Parliament in December 2009, entitled: Cold Comfort: the Administration of the 2005 Single Payment Scheme by the Rural Payments Agency. Thu 7th Jan 2010: KEETCH CALLS FOR RESPECT FOR FALLEN SOLDIERS. MP for Hereford, Paul Keetch, is sponsoring a parliamentary motion to ask the Home Secretary to investigate whether an al-Muhajiroun proposed demonstration in the town of Wootton Bassett would breach the Public Order Act 1986. Wed 16th Dec 2009: KEETCH OPPOSES PROPOSALS TO REGISTER AND MONITOR HOME-EDUCATED CHILDREN. Last week over 70 Members of Parliament presented petitions from more than 120 different constituencies opposing the compulsory registration and monitoring of home-educated children. The previous record for petitions presented in one day was 44 in March 2006. If enacted, the Government's proposals will, for the first time in our history, tear away from parents and give to the state the responsibility for a child's education. Tue 15th Dec 2009: KEETCH SUPPORTS MANUFACTURING EXCELLENCE 2010 IN HEREFORD. Paul Keetch MP from Hereford is urging local businesses in the area to enter the UK's most prestigious business awards scheme. Firms have until January 29 to enter the battle for 'Best UK Business' at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers' Manufacturing Excellence Awards (MX) 2010. Wed 2nd Dec 2009: KEETCH CALLS FOR MORE COMMITMENT FROM ALLIES. MP for Hereford Paul Keetch asked the Prime Minister on Monday 30th November questions about the deployment of more allied soldiers to Afghanistan during the Prime Minister's statement announcing the deployment of more British soldiers. He was concerned that some of the soldiers currently deployed from allied countries other than the UK and USA are not currently being used as effectively as they should be. As a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Mr Keetch visited Afghanistan in April this year and saw at first hand what the situation was really like. Tue 1st Dec 2009: KEETCH SUPPORTS HEREFORD HOSPITAL FOLLOWING FOSTER REPORT. Hereford's MP, Paul Keetch, is standing by Hereford's County Hospital in light of the recent Dr Foster report into patient safety which placed the hospital in the lowest banding for safety of service. Wed 25th Nov 2009: MP SUPPORTS CALL FOR GOVERNMENT TO GIVE FAIRER DEAL TO HOMEOWNERS RENTING A ROOM. Paul Keetch, MP for Hereford, is pleased to be supporting the Raise the Roof Campaign, launched on the 4th November by flat and house-share website Spareroom.co.uk. The campaign, which is also supported by Shelter and the National Landlords Association, is calling for improved tax breaks for householders who rent out spare rooms to lodgers under the Government's Rent a Room Scheme. Tue 10th Nov 2009: KEETCH REMEMBERS FALLEN SOLDIERS. In the lead up to Armistice day MP for Hereford Paul Keetch went to the Garden of Remembrance outside Westminster Abbey to pay tribute to the memory of all fallen British soldiers. He placed a cross in the Herefordshire Regiment plot in remembrance of the soldiers from and based in Hereford and all other members of the British Armed Forces who gave their lives for their country.
