We demand fair funding for Herefordshire

A person opening a wallet to reveal it is empty.

The Government has announced that over the next three years the funding it gives to Herefordshire will be slashed by a quarter.

At the same time urban councils will get an extra 20% boost to their coffers.

The Government's cuts will mean that there will be less money for vital services like resurfacing our roads, supporting public transport and investing in affordable housing for local people. This will be true even if Council Tax rates go up.

The controlling Conservative administration has already used this as an excuse to ignore the LibDems call for investment in delivering more affordable housing.

The government calls this "Fair Funding" but it is not fair for Herefordshire people.

Herefordshire LibDems say Herefordshire people need an actual fair deal in funding. Not a massive cut.

We are calling on the government to reverse the planned cuts to funding to Herefordshire. We want them to recognise the unique challenges that rural communities face.
